why choose me?
I want to provide you with lasting memories and a fun experience. I am photographer that will provide you with a unique perspective and quality images. I consider my style to be editorial/lifestyle and prefer the more candid moments of a person and family. While we can do traditional poses, I want your family to be comfortable and have the photos represent your real life. I try not to over-photoshop. I want to provide solid photography that will age well through time. My goal is ten years from now the images will still be *timeless* and not some whimsical pinterest experience that is dated and fake.
why spend more?
You could easily find photographers willing to complete your sessions for less. However, there is more to photography than just buying a nice camera. It takes time, dedication, and understanding - especially more than just the equipment a person is using. Your pictures will last a lifetime - it really is an investment. Over the last year I have sat through 25 hours of training, shot 12 weddings, and have edited 20,000 photos. A person pays for experience and expertise.
why is this so expensive?!
Between multiple cameras, 10+ lenses, time and money for trainings - photography is an expensive adventure. A professional photographer easily has $20,000 in equipment + other costs like insurance to run the business. One lens alone that I use for my family shoots was $3,600. This isn't like shooting with an iPhone. :)
• I spend the majority of my time in photography behind the computer editing images. This is where most of the cost of photography comes in. Most people don't realize there's about 30 hours that goes into a wedding edit after the day. I believe the photographer is the hardest working person of a ceremony before and after.
• I use Adobe Lightroom to manage files and basic adjustments. I then export to Adobe Photoshop where I work on accurate colors and tones. There are times I will convert to black and white and generally know when I am shooting an image if it will be a good black and white conversion. There is way more to a black and white image than just a simple click, too. I have taken collegiate level classes in graphic design that provided me with working knowledge of Photoshop and continue my online education to help me improve my work with every shoot.
• While I do basic skin tone shooting and adjustments, I will not alter shapes or sizes. People are born beautiful and remain beautiful. While I appreciate good photoshop work, I try not to over process because it takes away from the integrity of images.
the following packages are available for 2016:
As of January 1, 2016, I am changing my pricing structure. After taking a look at the current demands of my time, equipment, and needs of my own family, I am hoping to keep printing and quality control with me. Over the next year, I intend to focus on quality of shoots over quantity. To make this happen, I will be requiring individuals to use my professional photo lab of choice and submit desired orders to me. In addition to the cost analysis I have completed, I have noticed the quality of consumer labs my client have been using are not representing my best work.
The following prices are the creative fee - the time it takes photographing and editing for my time and talent. No digital files or prints included with the creative fee. Following your session, you'll receive a gallery of images and can choose from a variety of printing options to include canvases, traditional prints, etc. that will be printed from the professional printing company I use for my own art. Should you desire one digital image, the cost of that digital image will be $200 but minimum print order will still be required to purchase any digital images.
Need a holiday card? I'm happy to design that for you if you pick the images using my lab. I'll give you two to choose from. Contact me for pricing.
A minimum print order of $250 is required for all sessions except for newborn sessions where the shoots and editing take longer in time and I require a $350 minimum print order.
I promise you'll notice the significant difference in printing and love the quality you'll be receiving.
